What we collect, and why

When you contact us

This website has no forms. You contact us directly by phone, email or WhatsApp. When you do, you share the information you choose to provide: name, contact details, intended dates, the content of your message. We use it only to answer your enquiry and organise your stay (pre-contractual measures, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

These exchanges are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then for up to three years after our last contact. Information relating to a booked stay is kept for the period required by our legal and accounting obligations.

Our mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail), so your emails are processed on servers that may be located outside the European Union. If you message us via WhatsApp, that exchange is also subject to WhatsApp’s (Meta’s) privacy policy.

Audience measurement

We measure the website’s traffic (page views, visits, referring sites) in aggregate form, using a tool hosted on our own server, without cookies. The tool reads your IP address at the time of your visit to tell visitors apart, but does not store it: only aggregate statistics, which cannot identify you, are kept. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding the site’s audience.

Technical data

Our host keeps technical connection logs (IP address, browser, pages viewed, date and time) for security and troubleshooting purposes. These logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Cookies

This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Only a technical cookie may be used to remember your browsing language; it is necessary for the site to work and does not require your consent.

External content and links

Some pages display a location map provided by OpenFreeMap; showing it triggers a request to that service, which states that it does not log or track visitors. The website also links to third-party services (Instagram, WhatsApp): by following them you leave our site, and those services process your data under their own policies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to, restrict and port your data. To exercise it, write to booksurfhouse@gmail.com; you will receive a reply within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: in Morocco, the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des données à caractère personnel); if you live in the European Union, the authority of your country (for example the CNIL in France).

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data against loss, unauthorised access or disclosure. The connection to the site is encrypted (HTTPS).
